Cocktail Recipes

Classic Martini: 2 ounces of dry gin (or vodka), splash of French vermouth, garnish with lemon peel or olive(s). Gin is never shaken only stirred.

Dirty Martini: 2 ounces of Gin (or Vodka,) ½ ounce of dry vermouth w/ a tsp. of olive juice, garnish with lots of olives… after all a goils gotta eat.

Dry Martini: 2 ounces of Gin or Vodka. swish the glass with dry vermouth, remove excess (some use scotch) garnish with a lemon twist or olive(s). An onion makes the drink a Gibson.

Sweet Martini: 1 ½ ounces of dry Gin, ¾ ounce of Sweet Vermouth, garnish with lemon peel or olive(s).

Cosmopolitan: 1 ½ oz. Vodka, ½ oz. Grande Marnier, 1 -2 oz. Cranberry juice, ½ oz. fresh squeezed lime juice. Shake & poured with a twist. Garnish with 3 (because that’s lucky) floating cranberries.

Vesper: Daniel Craig as James Bond famed this 007 martini3 oz. Gin, one oz. Vodka, 1/2 oz. of Kina Lillet ( a liquor made of white wine & fruit liquors flavored with Quinnie) with a slice of lemon.

Negroni: 1oz. gin, 1 oz. Campari, 3/4 oz. Sweet Vermouth. Shake over ice and strain into martini glass, garnish with burnt orange peel.

Pearl Necklace: 1 oz. Vodka ½ oz. Godiva white chocolate liqueur, splash of cream. Shake over ice, strain and pour into a martini glass.

Manhattan: 1 1/2 oz. Whiskey (Rye or Bourbon), 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth, over ice, one dash  bitters, stir and drain into martini glass add cherry (a tsp. of juice if desired). Can also be served on the rocks in short highball glass.

Metro: 1 oz. Vodka, 1 oz. Grande Marnier, shaken served chilled with orange garnish

Melonball: 1 ½ oz. Vodka, ½ oz. Melon liquor, squeeze of fresh lime, pineapple juice, shaken, served chilled with lime garnish

Seabreeze: 1 oz. Vodka, cranberry juice, grapefruit juice on ice.

Baybreeze: 1 oz. Vodka, cranberry juice, pineapple juice on ice.

Whiskey Sour: 1 ½ oz. Whiskey, juice of one lime, juice of one lemon, simple syrup (to taste), soda, served in a frosted, sugar rimmed flute glass with cherry.

Amaretto Sour: is the same as a Whiskey Sour only using Amaretto in place of Whiskey & less simple syrup & no sugar rimmed glass.

Magic Johnson: 1 ½ oz. Vanilla Vodka, on the rocks with a drizzle of Ameretto and cherry. (Named after a famous Johnson, …Sandra who came up with this wonderful concuction).

Dragon Boat: 1 oz. Limoncello, 1 oz. Absolute Mandarin, ½ oz. Lychee, ½ oz. Mango juice.

Sex With a Shark: 1 oz. Jagermeister, 1 oz. Rumplemintz, 1 oz. Chambord, 1 oz. Grenadine, layered from the grenadine upwards in a chilled martini glass.

Japanese Cocktail: 2 oz. Brandy, ½ oz. Almond syrup, 2 dashes bitters. Stirred over ice, strained into a cocktail glass garnished with lemon twist.

Americano: 1 oz. Campani, 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth, soda water. Stirred on ice with soda water and garnished with an orange slice.

Mexican Dingleberry: ½ shot Tequila Rose, ½ shot Chambord put together in a shooter glass.

Bloody Caesar: This drink has many personal variations. I vote it be Canada’s signature drink. Here’s my recipe for the perfect Caesar:  Rim a tall glass with a combo of crushed sea salt, celery salt & black pepper. 1 ½ oz. ? (not sure I free pour) Vodka, few dashes of  worstershire, tabassco, HP sauce & horseradish – stir with celery stick. Add ample ice, pour clamato juice over, stir some more. Squeeze a wedge of lime, throw it in, a voila…hail the Bloody Caesar!

Bloody Shame: Same as Caesar but without the vodka.

Champagne Cocktail: 6 oz. Chilled champagne. I cube sugar, bitters. Soak the sugar cube with bitter placed at bottom of flute glass fill with champagne, lemon twist.

White Sangria: 750 ml. Sauvignon blanc, 6 oz. Cointreau or triple sec, 6 oz. Orange juice, 3 oz. Lime juice, 4 oz. Brandy, ½ c. sugar syrup, 16 oz. Raspberry or peach flavored seltzer. Chill all ingredients, dissolve sugar in orange juice, combine all ingredients in large pitcher. Stir and add seltzer just prior to serving. Garnish with raspberries, peach slices.

Delilah: 1 ½ oz. Gin, ¾ oz. Cointreau, ¾ oz. Lemon juice. Shaken with ice and strained into chilled martini glass.

Tom Collins: 2 oz. Gin, 1 oz. Lemon juice, 1 tsp. sugar, 2 oz. Soda water on ice in cocktail glass.

Long Island Ice Tea: ½ oz. Vodka, ½ oz. Gin, ½ oz white rum, ½ oz. Cointreau, 1 oz. Lemon juice. Topped with cola in a cocktail glass with ice.

Widows Kiss: 2 oz. Calvados, 1 oz. Yellow Charteuse, 1 oz. Benedictine, 1 dash bitter. Stir with ice, strain into cocktail glass.

Tail Spin: ¾ oz. Gin, ¾ oz. Sweet Vermouth & dash Campari. Stir with ice, strain into cocktail glass, garnish with lemon twist and cherry.

The Big Eau: 2 oz. Vodka, 1 oz. Icewine. Shake over ice and strain into martini glass. Add a generous splash of champagne and garnish with a frozen icewine grape to finish.
